![]() Yan Ping with a cluster of sunflowers Today marks a new milestone for sunflower farming- we decided to harvest them. Most of the sunflowers harvested are actually in pretty bad shape....most of them have already began to wilt.
|[ Mrs Ariel | 3:46 AM ]| Friday, May 11, 2007 Some pictures Picture looks abit blur. A leaf from the Taiwan sunflower "Wreckage " Compare this sunflower with the above picture. Can you see some differences? Look at this! 1 flower and 4 more buds! All on one stalk! |[ Mrs Ariel | 7:46 AM ]| Are they all sunflowers?
![]() Hmm.... this is really interesting, 4 flowers on 1 stalk?? ![]() ![]() The heavy downpour and strong winds that accompanied it for the two nights had wrecked havoc in our sunflowers corner. The wreckage plus innumerable red ants stirred up quite a panic amongst our students! Mr. Ng and myself went to "inspect" the damages and luckily the worst has yet to be. Phew! We went for a closer look and discovered some interesting things about the sunflowers that we grew. There seems to be a few varieties grown! The characteristics of the flowers are quite varied..... 1)The flowers have different types of petals, some petals are very closed together while some are spaced-out. 2) Some of the flowers grew singly while a few stalks have 4 to 5 flowers growing on it! 3)The shape of the flowers looked different too..hmm... Well, students from the three schools, do take a closer look and see if you can spot some more differences. I will upload some more photographs for you... Mrs Ariel |[ Mrs Ariel | 7:22 AM ]| Thursday, May 3, 2007 The little problem The problem (by Woodlands pri) Scenario: 1) The stalk of some of the sunflowers have broken. 2) Some of the plants seems to go against the rule of growing towards sunlight, thus, the plant grows bendy and curvy. Questions: 1) How to prevent the stalk from breaking? 2) Why do the plants grow bendy and curvy? Hint: 1) Where are these "problem" plants located? Happy working towards the answers! Mrs Ariel
|[ Mrs Ariel | 6:06 PM ]| Good news! The sunflowers have bloomed! Sharing this piece of good news with you!
