 First Touch through skype!
 WDP students introducing themselves
Students from the 2 schools introducing themselves
 Bombing game!
Drum roll please!(De..er..er...) Introducing the 36 enthusiastic students from the 3 schools across 2 countries!
Well, I am Mrs Ariel and together with Mr Ng, we are leading 12 students from Woodlands primary school from Singapore in this Science learning journey . The other 2 participating schools from Taiwan are Guolin and Zhu Wei, they are both elementary schools. The teachers leading Guolin Elementary and Zhu Wei Elementary are Mr. Holland and Mr. Hsu respectively.
This collaboration began last year with our first batch of students who did a learning trail on insects. Drawing on experiences from last year, the teachers from the 3 schools began our planning since the beginning of the year. Plans were hatched and thus began the learning trail for this year - Sunflowers project.
Allow me to elaborate more on our Grow Green -Sunflowers project. This is a research project where the students from the 3 schools find out under what conditions would sunflowers grow best. Woodlands primary is growing our sunflowers in our aquaponics system, Guolin Elementary is growing theirs using the traditional farming method and Zhu Wei Elementary has their sunflowers grown in the greenhouse.
The 36 students are divided into groups of 12 with 4 members from each school respectively. Students will then use Skype as a platform for face to face discussion every week. Observations are recorded on a common set of file and students post their ideas and discussion on blog.
The photos shown are taken from the first joint session. Students from the 3 schools introduced themselves followed by a bombing game. There were lots of laughter, giggling and fun. Students from the 3 schools were just great, looking forward to seeing all of you again!
Stay tuned for the next post!
